The Charity: Over The Wall offers free therapeutic recreation camps to children with serious health challenges and their families all over the UK. As part of the international SeriousFun Network we provide life-changing opportunities for children to learn to challenge themselves and move past the perceived limits of their conditions.

Position: Assistant Volunteer Coordinator
Location: Based in Head Office, Havant, Hampshire
Hours: Full time
Salary: £18,000

The Position: As part of our aim to deliver our biggest year of camps ever we’re looking for an Assistant Volunteer Coordinator to work with the Volunteering team with a focus on recruiting and supporting volunteers. The post is full time and based in our Havant office, with a requirement to assist in the recruitment of volunteers, attend and participate at our Camps, attend and facilitate Volunteer interviews throughout the UK.  Additional time off in lieu in addition of annual leave provision will be given for this commitment.

We offer the opportunity to work within a highly skilled team to recruit and support volunteers across the UK.  You will help implement and develop the Volunteer Recruitment strategy and policy to the highest possible standard. You will need to identify key players across the UK and develop- then maintain- relationships with them.

As a first point of contact for the charity for many volunteers you need to identify who we can help with professionalism and accuracy, and develop a friendly and approachable rapport. You will assess and process all aspects of the volunteer application process effectively and accurately.  While there is an administration element to this role, there is also an expectation you will visit other key locations frequently; prepare for and facilitate volunteer interviews across the UK. Attending camps in a support role will also form a rewarding part of what you do.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a goal-oriented environment with excellent communication skills, ideally with some understanding of volunteering. Empathy and listening skills are a must. Experience of scrupulous record keeping is also essential, and knowledge of volunteering and residential camps would be an advantage. IT literacy and a full clean driving license and car are also requirements. Post is subject to full police background checks.
