Over The Wall and Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice get wet in Castlewellan!
From Friday 27th October to Sunday 29th October, 26 Sibling Campers enjoyed an exciting and wet weekend at the Ardnabannon Outdoor Education Centre in Castlewellan, Northern Ireland. The weekend was organised in association with the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice and it provided an opportunity for Siblings of children and young people with serious illnesses, to have a taste of the fun and magic Over The Wall take pride in. Although we were blessed with sunshine, there wasn’t a dry Camper or Volunteer in sight! As if Canoeing wasn’t enough fun and excitement, then came another change of clothing for Bouldering. From jumping off rocks into freezing cold waters to loosing a welly or two, the Campers were more than ready for a hot shower and a plate of homemade Irish stew! For the younger Campers, and lets just say for the more naïve Volunteers, we were taken on what was believed to have been a nature trail!!!! From wading through rivers, climbing through drain pipes, to lying down in sewer infested streams, it was clearly a winner for everyone.
