New Volunteer Committee Group

During Easter camp I managed to gain volunteer views on how we served the volunteers and although there was positive feedback there were areas in which we could improve! As already mentioned we cannot facilitate camp without you so we decided on this solution. A group of volunteers, Clare Ramsaran, Sam Ashby, Claire Thomson, Mark Oliver, Jane Fowler, Charlie Cosby and Helen Reid all agreed to sit on this committee and share ideas.

It is hoped that the committee will allow not just the volunteers ideas to be heard but also give the volunteers a voice, after all it is their charity as well. We had our first meeting on Tuesday 8th May 2007 where we had an open discussion. One of the first subjects was volunteer communication and how we can improve on this as many of you want to know how you can help Over the Wall pre/post summer camps.

The committee decided to develop a volunteer quarterly newsletter informing volunteers of the opportunities and an update on the charity. This should all happen post Summer camps. As this group is in its infancy if there are any burning ideas that you think the committee should be discussing then please email the topics to the National Activities Manager. We cannot promise to discuss everything but the committee will choose the topics to discuss and feed them back to you.
