OTW bags £40k thanks to TESCO

OTW is delighted to announce that we have been awarded three grants to help fund camps in 2020 by Tesco’s local community grant scheme, ‘Bags of Help’.

After being shortlisted in three Tesco stores within the regions our camps take place, customers voted for their favourite local community projects.

OTW won third place in Somerset and Wiltshire receiving £10,000, second place in Mid Scotland (Midlothian, East Lothian, Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, South & East Ayrshire), receiving £15,000 and second place in Perth & Kinross, (Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Fife, Dundee, Angus), receiving £15,000.

Tesco raises the money for the grants through the sale of their reusable Bags for Life helping to fund projects ranging from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces, to new equipment, training coaches and volunteers, and hosting community events. Each time a customer shops they are able to cast their vote for a local charity project by using the blue token they receive at the checkout.

Kevin Mathieson, the Chief Executive at Over The Wall, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted, and voted for, in three different camp regions. The support of Tesco and the customers that kindly voted for us, will create more opportunities for children to experience our life-changing camps.”
