Newman’s Own and English Provender Company

Newman’s Own products to promote a UK cause, originally founded by Paul Newman.
English Provender Company is partnering with the charity Over The Wall, to help raise awareness of its residential camps for children with serious illness, through the distribution of Newman’s Own food products.

As a manufacturer of condiments, chutneys, dressings and sauces, English Provender Company is the licensed UK producer and distributor of Newman’s Own food products. It now plans to raise awareness of Over The Wall by featuring it on the labels of all Newman’s Own bottles, reaching around 600k homes in the UK every year.

Like Newman’s Own products, Over The Wall was also founded by Hollywood actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. The charity was founded in 1999, when Newman worked with businessman, Joe Woods to launch a UK version of his US camps, where children with serious illnesses could -in Paul’s words- ‘raise a little hell’.

Over The Wall continues to provide free, life changing residential camp experiences and, following the pandemic, has pivoted its offering by creating a new virtual, online alternative, known as ‘Camp in the Cloud’. Plans are now being made for Over The Wall’s venue-based camps to resume in the future.

In addition to promoting the charity though Newman’s Own food products, English Provender’s staff have volunteered at the Over The Wall headquarters, preparing, packing, and sending ‘SeriousFun activity boxes’ to the homes of children participating in Camp in the Cloud. The English Provender team plan to volunteer at the venue-based camps as soon as they return.

The Newman’s Own brand donates 100% of the royalties and profits received from products to charitable purposes, and the Newman’s Own Foundation has distributed over $570m to charities around the world.
