Our plans in Ockbrook, Derby

Set on 17 acres at the edge of the countryside, our new residential centre will provide free, year-round programmes and camps, giving even more children and young people the chance to forge friendships, build confidence, learn new skills and bring inclusive adventures to everyone!

Who are Over The Wall Camp?

Over The Wall Camp provides life-changing residential camps for children and young people living with a chronic illness or disability, as well as their families, across the UK.

Our camps are medically supported, fully accessible, and designed to help children overcome isolation, build self-esteem and resilience, and develop new skills.

At camp, we reach our goals by playing with purpose. This means that how we do things matters as much as what we do.

We don’t just offer fun activities; we create intentional opportunities to develop skills that will stay with our campers long after they leave camp. We achieve this by encouraging campers to step outside their comfort zones, take on challenges in safe, supportive environments, and celebrate their successes with their camp community.

Meet our founder

Our story begins with our founder, the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. In 1999, Newman brought his vision of transformational camp experiences for children living with serious illness to the UK, founding Over The Wall Camp as part of the global SeriousFun Children’s Network.

Newman believed in the power of laughter, friendship and belonging, creating safe spaces where children could build confidence, try new things and simply have fun. That spirit still shapes every part of Over The Wall Camp today. From campfire songs and climbing walls to quiet moments of understanding between families, we create life-changing experiences where everyone feels seen, supported and included.

27 years later, Paul Newman’s legacy lives on through every smile, every shared story and every moment of magic created at camp.

You can join his legacy.

Your support creates magic

Annabelle is a bright and resilient teenager whose Coeliac Disease often made everyday experiences difficult.

Concerns around safe food options meant she sometimes missed out on trips, social occasions, and opportunities with friends. At Over The Wall Camp, everything changed. In a safe and supportive environment, Annabelle could focus on fun instead of fear. She built confidence, tried new activities, and formed friendships with young people who understood her experiences.

By entering the Surrey House Draw, you’ll help create our new national activity centre, so more children living with serious illness and disability can enjoy the mischief and magic of childhood.
