Over The Wall Camp in Derbyshire
Welcome to Over The Wall Camp, Ockbrook, our very own new camp that supports children and young people with a health challenge by providing a medically safe space where they can laugh, grow, and rediscover the magic of childhood.
Our residential activity camps are an opportunity for children, young people and families to get away from home and the day-to-day pressures of life. We offer a medically and physically safe environment that allows young people affected by health challenges to step outside of their comfort zones, establishing friendships and build their confidence through meaningful and exciting activities.
A Space Designed for Campers
Everything at Ockbrook has been created with our campers’ needs in mind. From accessible bedrooms and activity spaces to relaxing outdoor areas, every detail has been carefully designed so every child can feel included and make lasting memories.
You can expect:
Activity areas designed for all abilities
Calming, comfortable indoor spaces
Safe and welcoming outdoor adventure zones
A setting surrounded by nature, just outside Derby
On-site clinical care from fully qualified Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics led by our own Clinical Team.
Facilities
The site provides comfortable, modern indoor accommodation (not tents), with multibedded bedrooms with a mixture of single beds and bunk beds, all with en-suite bathrooms. There is also dedicated areas for teams to come together.
Ockbrook will be a home-from-home for campers, offering comfort, care, and the perfect backdrop for magical moments.
Fun Fact
Our Ockbrook Camp is a former Boarding School and originates from the 1700s! We’re now giving it a brand-new purpose: transforming it into a place where children and families can laugh, grow, and rediscover the magic of childhood.
Our team is working hard to adapt the first section of the site to meet the needs of our campers — with accessible spaces, thoughtful design, and plenty of room for adventure. The site is 17 acres – a lot of space for campers to create mischief!
When we open in Summer 2026, Ockbrook Camp will be a space where everyone belongs.

Partnership Camp
In collaboration with like-minded organisations and charities, our Partnership Camps create powerful experiences for children, young people, and their families navigating similar health challenges. These camps are more than just a break – they’re a safe space for connection, understanding, and shared strength. It’s a place where common journeys spark joy, friendships blossom, and the spirit of unity and togetherness thrives!
We’re sprinkling the final added sparkles onto our Partnership Camp dates! Everything’s almost ready – and we can’t wait to share the full details with you very soon!
Home Educated Camp
A new addition to the calendar is our Home Educated Camp, taking place during term time. This combined Health Challenge & Siblings Camp is designed specifically for campers aged 8–17 who are home educated and meet Over The Wall Camp’s eligibility criteria. We know that home educated children often have unique learning journeys and social experiences, and we’re excited to pilot this new programme.
Returners Camp
We’re also excited to introduce Returner Camps – a special opportunity for young people who’ve been to camp before to reconnect with the magic of camp through a fun and meaningful weekend away. These weekends are designed to celebrate the ongoing journey of our returning campers, offering a chance to reunite with friends, revisit favourite activities, and continue building confidence and joy in a familiar setting.
Please note: Returner Camps will not be open for general applications. Instead, invitations will be made as part of our regular allocation process.
When you have a child with a health challenge, you can get quite protective. You’ve never trusted someone with your children before. When you get to camp though, the confidence you have in the volunteers and staff to look after them is almost overwhelming. It helps that the focus isn’t the health challenge, coming to camp is about having fun!

We welcome everybody from different backgrounds, and with varying characteristics and skillsets. We firmly believe that everyone has value at camp and would love to meet you to share this experience over a week or weekend.
